Our story

United timber corporation was founded by Mr. Wajih Sinno may his soul rest in peace sixty five years ago. Our grandfather did not have anything, his father had passed away when he was only ten years old. Unable to afford university tuition Mr Wajih started working in a timber warehouse at the young age of 15. By the time he was 20 years old Mr Wajih had become an expert in timber trading and had accumulated enough wealth to start his own timber business. He acquired a small shop in what was known as the timber market located in Beirut's old port and partnered with the Jabado family. The partnership did not last very long, and soon after the Lebanese civil war erupted. The company had to be relocated to Saudi Arabia which prospering from its emerging oil sector. But even then, Mr Malek Sinno always had his sights on coming back to his home country once the situation had stabilized. In 1991 the decision was made on coming back to Lebanon. The company was reopened in three locations : Tripoli, Sin el fil and Al Chiyah and has been growing ever since. In 2005 and 2010 two additional warehouses were acquired in Tripoli. Today UTC is one of Lebanon's largest importers of wood and manufactured boards, and holds franchise agreements with some of best suppliers in the world such as Kronospan, a multinational firm with over 4 billion euros in sales annually.
